WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE...
Actually, it's been pretty quiet since I sent out my last blog post.
It is definitely autumn weather now, with more rain and temperatures
averaging 5-15 Celsius during the day and down to freezing at night.
It won't be that long until the snow flies; maybe 6 weeks or so.
The Canadian national sport of ice hockey is now well underway.
Montreal's pro team, Les Canadiens (yes, it's spelled with an "e")
have started their season and hockey fever has gripped this city
with a vengeance. A couple of weeks ago I drove over to the team's
practice rink and it was impossible to find a space in the parking
lot or adjoining roads -- and that was on a "work day". They say
hockey is a religion here -- with good reason.
On October 11th, we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving which meant we
got together for a family meal at my brother Ian's place. His wife
Josée, prepared a big and tasty roast turkey with all the trimmings.
We celebrate it here about 6 weeks before the USA since our harvest
comes earlier due to our northern latitude.
